The Islamic University of MInnesota was established in 2006 I1427 Hijri). Our mission at the IUM is to facilitate access to the Prophetic tradition of knowledge based upon Al-Quran, the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the statements and example of the Sahaba, the Tabi’in, and Tabi’in al-Tabi’in, all under the guidance of our esteemed president Sheikh Waleed al Maneese and faculty members. IUM is a nationally accredited seminary college. Our degrees are also internationally recognized and accepted by other theological universities. IUM currently has a four-year Islamic Studies Undergraduate program, two -year Master’s program and full PhD program at our Graduate Institute for Aalims and Daais (GIAD). In addition, the organization includes our Al-Azhar Educational Center of North America, which offers online learning access to the curriculum of Al-Azhar University for a period of four years. Upon successful completion, students are granted a Bachelors of Literature degree in Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University in Egypt based on the collaboration between the two organizations. We are honored to be the only partner with Al-Azhar in North America offering a collaborative distance learning program at this time. The university offers two routes of learning, in-class and distant learning. Both our Islamic studies and Arabic language classes are offered in two languages, i.e., Arabic and English. Classes are offered in the following disciplines: Islamic Law (Sharia), Education and Arabic Language, and Quranic Recitation Methods (Qira’at). Along with its main branch in Bloomington, Minnesota, IUM has branches in Eden Prairie, MN, St. Paul, MN, Detroit, MI, Seattle, WA, and Davis, CA, and Somalia. With more than 400 students currently registered and over 1,000 who’ve attended our programs, IUM is continuing to expand our programs and open new locations across the globe.
